INGRID ISAKSEN/PRINCESS HILDE – The fifth child, she is 17 years old, and the younger (by five minutes) twin sister of Astrid. Ingrid is very much like Astrid, but not as quick thinking. As Princess Hilde, she is determined to be beat Princess Arva out and marry Prince Eirik.

EMMA ISAKSEN – 15 years old. Emma is lovely, kind, and generous. She is often the target of Astrid and Ingrid’s unkindness. The White Bear believes that she is the girl who can break the spell put on him years before.

ANNA ISAKSEN/PRINCESS YRSA/HAG 1 – Anna is 10 years old. She still loves paper dolls and tea parties. As Princess Yrsa she is protected by Princess Sigrid and helps Emma and Prince Eirik.

GUNNAR ISAKSEN/PRINCE KAZKO/FARMER’S SON – Gunnar is 8 years old, and loves reindeer. He also loves to do what his older brothers do and is enthralled when the family gets a team of reindeer! As Prince Kazko, he is also protected by Princess Sigrid, and helps Emma and Prince Eirik.

THE WHITE BEAR/ PRINCE EIRIK – Prince Eirik is put under a spell by a Troll Queen who has dreams of him marrying one of her daughters. To break the spell, the White Bear must find a girl who will love him as the Bear for one year.

The Isaksen family lives on a simple farm in Norway, where they work hard to feed their large family. One night they are visited by a White Bear, who tells them that he has been enchanted, and will
remain a Bear until he finds the one who can break the enchantment. The Bear, Prince Eirik, feels certain that Emma is the one, and gets permission to take her to his castle. Just as the year is nearly up,
Emma is convinced that she must find out if the bear is a prince or a troll. As a result of her curiosity, Prince Eirik is dragged off to Troll Castle, East O’ the Sun, West O’ the Moon, and Emma must find him before he is forced to marry a Troll Princess.

In the last decade of the twentieth century, a beautiful young woman in nineteenth-century clothing is found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic. When rescued, she says only one word: Titanic. The woman, Winifred, is taken to an isolated spot on the coast of Maine where an expert on the sinking of the liner, a mysterious man named John, has arranged to interrogate her for six days. His goal: to crack her story, get her to confess she’s a fake, and reveal her true identity; his one clue: her enigmatic references to an unknown place called “Scotland Road.” In a stark, white room furnished only with a ship’s deck chair, John, assisted by a skeptical doctor named Halbrech, plays a cat-and-mouse game with Winifred, probing and searching for ways to break her down. But Winifred is a formidable opponent, and as John is drawn closer to her, he becomes desperate. As time runs out, Halbrech tracks down the last, living survivor of the disaster, a reclusive old woman named Frances Kittle who has lived in seclusion for seventy-five years. Miss Kittle is brought to meet Winifred to test her, but the tables turn when Winifred recalls an earlier confrontation with Miss Kittle, one that took place on board the fated liner the night is sank, three quarters of a century before. By the play’s end, one of the characters is dead, all the character’s identities have been questioned, and John and Winifred’s shared secret is revealed as they make one final journey to Scotland Road.
